My husband and I are concerned with piling debt. How does one get out of credit card debt? How long did it take you to recover?

I suggest paying off the card with the lowest balance by making double payments on it. Then take those double payments and apply them to the card withthe next highest balance and work your way up.

You can call your credit card company and ask them to lower the interest rate. My son did this so he could get his card paid off quicker. You have to make more than the minimum payment and stop charging. If you keep charging, you will be going deeper and deeper in debt.

Credit handled wisely is a wonderful thing. The benefits of having access to credit and a positive credit report are numerous. Conversely, not understanding credit and making unwise decisions can affect you negatively for years to come.
