WE manages to squirrel away $2,000.00 in a CD, 7 months ago and we feel fortunate.
The interest rate isn't that great, though.
When do you tink interest rates will start rising again?

Interest rates may go up if the economic relief packages benefits the middle class first, since they generate sales.
Otherwise, we probably won't see imrpovement until 2010!

I've never stored money in a CD. I either keep my money in Mutual funds or other stocks, or in an intrest bearing checking account. Guess if I was saving for a specific purchase and knew I needed to access the money within a specific timeframe, Ii'd go with the CD, but that's never come up.

Interest rates will start to rise again but I don't think in the near future. I do believe however that it is always a great idea to have some money saved away.

ING right now has the best interest rates on CDs. Consider that theer is no minimum from them 2.75 for a 6 month. Its one of the best deals out there. No penalties either.
I like it and plan on starting a CD with my new job.
I like them because it's there later on and you can't touch to to buy something, unlike a regular savings acocunt.

We have two small CDs. $1000 each. One is for a year the other is 15 months. Our interest was 5% now one is 4% and one is 3%. We just keep letting it roll over. We haven`t made a whole lot but we have more than what we started with.
